June 16 Heading to Storm Lake, Iowa

I headed south out of Estherville, IA,  on RT 4 picked up RT 18 west and then south on RT 71. What a beautiful and clear morning to be putting south. Nice farm land and the crops look good.

I am meeting Richard Madden and the American Legion riders at the intersection of RT 71 and RT 3 and also Abby with KMEG 14 Fox 44 for an interview and filming.

I arrived and it wasn’t long before the American Legion bikers started arriving and they just kept coming. It was a warm and emotional feeling having all the support. Many of the bikers were Veterans.

We did the interview and Abby did a great job interviewing the bikers, asking them why they are here.

Hearing Johnabilt start up and hearing all the Motorcycle’s made the chills go up my spine, not sure how many motorcycles there were, but it was a grand site to see them leading and also bringing up the rear. When we arrived in Storm Lake and the large parking lot, they gave me permission to stay the night.

The police had the road blocked off and Fire Trucks and Police were there welcoming us in when we arrived at Melander’s parking lot.

I was touched that the local Police and Firemen wanted their pictures taken with me and gave me their cards in case I need anything during the night. They have been very supportive.

Like we said before, there is so much good in America and I am finding so much support  on this trip. It is very humbling.

Thank you Richard Madden for organizing such an amazing escort to Storm Lake, Iowa.
